Drift for Speed | Battery Safety & Charging Guide

At Drift for Speed, performance and safety go hand-in-hand. Our RC drift cars use high-output lithium batteries to provide the power needed for precision sliding. However, lithium batteries require specific care to prevent fire, injury, or damage to property.

⚠️ Age Requirement & Supervision

• Ages 14+ Only: All Drift for Speed products are hobby-grade electronics and are not toys. They are intended for operators aged 14 and older.

• Adult Supervision: Operators under the age of 18 should always be supervised by an adult during the charging process.

1. Charging Safety (Crucial)

• Never Leave Unattended: Never leave a battery charging while you are out of the room or asleep. Always stay within sight of the charging process.

• Fire-Safe Surface: Always charge batteries on a non-flammable surface (e.g., stone, tile, or a dedicated LiPo charging bag). Never charge on carpet, wood, or near curtains.

• Use Provided Equipment: Only use the USB charging cables or dedicated chargers provided with your vehicle. Using third-party chargers with incorrect voltage can cause battery swelling or combustion.

• Cool Down Period: After drifting, the battery will be warm. Wait at least 15 minutes for the battery to cool down to room temperature before plugging it in to charge.

2. Storage & Handling

• Storage Temperature: Store your batteries in a cool, dry place. Avoid leaving them in a hot car or in direct sunlight, as extreme heat can destabilize the battery cells.

• Avoid Physical Damage: If your car takes a heavy impact, inspect the battery immediately. If the battery looks "puffy," swollen, or has a punctured casing, stop using it immediately.

• Long-Term Storage: If you don't plan on drifting for more than 2 weeks, store the battery at approximately 50% charge. Storing a battery completely "dead" or 100% full for long periods can permanently reduce its lifespan.

3. Disposal

• Do Not Trash: Never throw lithium batteries in the regular household trash.

• Recycle: Please visit a local electronics retailer or a battery recycling center to dispose of old or damaged batteries safely.
